Alright, so clearly I am a horrible blogger. I told you I would keep you posted on my college career, and here it is the first day of the SECOND week and I haven't told you anything. Here it goes...
Monday:
We had our dance placement and though I expected to get into 2.1 (begging) jazz, I was placed into 2.2 (intermediate). I'm sure that wont last long since I CAN'T DANCE!!!
We went to our first Musical Theatre History class. The teacher is really cool but he talks way too fast when we have to take a million notes, but I forgive him haha. We also signed up for a composer for the first paper--Leonard Bernstein!!!
Went to our acting class and learned a new warm-up. Fun tongue and face action AHAHAHA. I wasn't sure how I felt about her the first class, but hey, it's the first class. We are also working on a speech from Hamlet, that we will be working on until this Wednesday.
Tuesday:
Started the day off with our new PED class (professional ethics and dance). I was told that this teacher is a bit of a nut, but for the first class she was pretty okay. She hasn't gotten crazy yet but, there is still time.
We head to acting where we continue with the alphabet warm-up. We go through it with the class and then we all do it as a group but one person follows another. We like to see who will last the longest.
Our first musical theatre class consists of all paperwork. We find the the teacher knows all about us from our demos last semester. We still don't know much beyond the papers at this point.
OUR FIRST VPS CLASS!!! I, of course, was late to this class. IT WASN'T MY FAULT!!! We went to go down the stairs and a huge bookcase was on it's way down so we had to wait for the elevator. Anyway, the teacher is a little bit crazy. My thoughts changed but first class I really thought she would eat me if I gave her the wrong answer.
Wednesday:
Wake up! It's acting time!!!..We have a fun exercise where we are all middle school kids but we have to "Speak the speech." Girls against boys. Do I have to tell you who won?
Next VPS class is way fun. I discover that there is no right answer with this woman, but I also find out that she knows the greatest tension relieving stretches in the whole world. She has such a fun humor about her though, so I'm thinking that she is cool...thus far.
Thursday:
Greco Roman Theatre. Here we learn about the old time theatre of Greece and Rome. THIS IS THE LONGEST CLASS EVER!!! Very interesting concepts that I don't quite understand, but I want to. IT IS THREE HOURS LONG!!! Really, I can hardly pay attention long enough to watch a movie, never mind take notes and retain information. This teacher is nice though and thinks everyones impute is important, which is definitely a good trait.
Musical theatre starts with people working on their songs. See I didn't have to go because my last name starts with a P. We find that it is hard to break the habits of contemporary musicals. We also learn that our teacher is responsible for our acting work and our accompanist for the class is given all the musical responsibility.
Friday:
I only had musical theatre so I got to sleep in YAY!!! We pretty much just did the same thing. I didn't get to go this day either.
WEEKEND!!!
Saturday:
Me and my friend went shopping. We looked around at Goodwill and other places for clothes that would be suitable for acting class. We then went and ate and met another friend and got ice cream. Then we went back and played board games and ordered pizza, because my friends job is to sit in the cafe for 5 hours, so we thought we would keep him company.
Sunday:
BEST THING EVER!!! We went and saw a show with the amazing Laura Flanagan (my 1st semester acting teacher) and the lovely Barbra Schofield (my current acting teacher). IT WAS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! I loved every second of it. I am so lucky to have such amazing teachers. Both of these women were so awesome on stage. Beautiful performances from both of them. I think I am going to take all of the people who couldn't go this date and go next Sunday again.
We then came back and again hung out...and freaked out about how we didn't do ANY of the homework that we were supposed to.
